Student Spotlight: Isabella Finley

"These images were inspired by our visit to the Rubin Museum of Art. I enjoyed seeing the rich jewel tones used to create the Himalayan art, and decided to incorporate some of them into my own work. I used abstract lines of various shapes and sizes to represent the essence of the sounds heard in the audio exhibit, and illustrations based upon my own interpretations of the other works to create my pieces. I ultimately made three separate mono prints through three different techniques. I first tried adding mixed inks directly onto the plexiglass, and then used a tracing technique to transfer ink onto a lines from a sketch. I additionally experimented with painting a piece of plexiglass, and then removing part of it to create an image from negative space."
