INTRO TO PRINTMAKING @ PARSONS, AUGUST 2017

In this introductory course taught by Kathleen Kranack, students explore graphics, color theory, drawing, design, and composition through various printmaking processes. They create portfolio-quality prints using professional techniques in a range of assignments, both representational and conceptual. The class covers relief, intaglio, and monotype, as well as less conventional techniques.

FOR THE LOVE OF PRINT

Throughout this class, we explore the mystery and magic of printmaking in its many forms. While some printmaking techniques, like intaglio, require a deep understanding of process, printmaking is also full of unexpected surprises and beautiful accidents. And that's half the fun!

We expand our understanding of print by working LARGE and <small>, learning to recognize commercial and artistic applications in the world around us, and by discussing career opportunities in print and design.
