Student Spotlight: Matthew Brandfonbrener

"[For my etching project] I was inspired by the juxtaposition between the nature and the industrial architecture. I liked how the plants were able to survive despite being surrounded by concrete and pollution.

I changed the type of leaves to the kind from my other inspiration picture because I felt it would be easier to etch because it had more graphic lines and definite shading. I was pleased with my first print but I felt it needed another like of molding at the top of the building and some more shading in certain places for balance. I same steps as the original etch except I put it in the acid for five minutes to make finer lines."
